Department of Medical Surgical Nursing

The department of Medical Surgical Nursing has experienced, dedicated & dynamic faculty. This department is headed by well experienced senior lecturer. The volume of Medical Surgical is enormous. At present II & III year B.Sc., Nursing students are posted in different areas (Orthopedic, ICU, CCU, Burns Ward, Medical & Surgical wards etc.) in well equipped SSIMS & RC hospital attached to this college. The practical skills of students are assessed by faculty of Medical Surgical Department by conducting regular nursing rounds, demonstration and case presentations. The students are also assessed for their critical thinking ability in the clinical settings. Students will also have regular bed side clinics. Students also work in causality and are exposed to accident and trauma cases on rotation basis.
We have 180 surgical beds at hospital, with separate burns ward, trauma care wards. All these wards are fully equipped for the needs of the patients and provide a wide range of cases for our students in clinical experience.
The medical surgical nursing department will conduct regular theory classes. Theory classes are taken by well experienced faculty and also with the use of well-equipped audio-visual aids such as LCD projector, over-head projector, charts, films, models etc…. Teaching staff and students relationship is excellent.
Medical-surgical nursing department will conduct in-service education, and CNE programmes on regular basis. Other important programmes such as Nurses Day, World Health Day, and World TB Day etc. are also conducted. Department is equipped with its own library having latest edition text books, Journals and good teaching aids for the benefit of students.
